Modulon

Modulon has the following features:

• It works with the PlaySoniq¹
• Has it own 3.57 Mhz crystal clock to support (audio)cartridges in overclocked systems²
• Can be stacked with an additional Modulon for extra slots. The second expander can be used as a I/O expander.
• 3D Printed enclosure
• Supports an external AC Adapter: we recommend P.SUP.EU1000
• Uses standard components for future modifications or repairs
• The three top slots are on/off switchable
• Compact design
• Gold plated contacts
• Modulon has separate volume adjusters for all four slots.

Modulon will not work with some 3.5" and 5.25" disk drive interfaces inserted in Modulon slots. This is because of design flaws in those interfaces. Also please understand that modern complex devices that have an internal subslot mapper will not work well in slotexpanders. This is a general problem, not caused by our implementation.

Since the Modulon has a 3D printed case, signs of printing will be visible.

As of 1 May 2021 we moved to a new more sturdy enclosure design. The .stl files of both casing designs can be downloaded from this product page below so you can print the new casing yourself.

¹ with a maximum of 4 MB memory config; Sega Master System support will not work in a slotexpander; only in a primary msx slot. This is due to the fact that the Master system uses the same addressing as an MSX subslot for games. All other functionality will work in a subslot.
² the default 3.57 MHz crystal option does not work with older DRAM based memory modules. If you need to use Modulon with old Memory modules, please notify us when you make your order so we can remove the crystal for you.
