More info

Makoto, in development since 2018 by imATrackman and based on a earlier design by Leo Oliveira is now being finished by Electric River Hardware so we can finally enjoy the rich sounds and samples the Yamaha YM2608 chip has to offer. I

The YM2608 is made up of four key parts:

• FM Sound Source: This is a six-channel FM synthesis system, based on the YM2203, providing powerful FM sound capabilities. (as opposed to the 4 channel FM of the Neotron)

• SSG Sound Source: It fully implements the Yamaha YM2149/SSG, which is a variant of the well-known AY-3-8910/PSG. It generates three channels of square wave sounds or noise.

• ADPCM Sound Source: This handles one channel of sound using 4-bit ADPCM samples, with a sampling rate that can range from 2 kHz to 55 kHz. (Neotron has 7 free to use sample channels)

• Rhythm Sound Source: It has a six-channel ADPCM system built in, allowing for the playback of six fixed percussion or rhythm sounds directly from its internal ROM.

We have only one production run planned for now. So if you like soundchips and especially Japanese game music tracks from the nineties and eighties please reserve your copy now so we can finish the design and start production.
